Welcome to Freddy’s Journey: Mental Illness Meets 200 km!
As someone who has battled mental illness for now over 26 years and has received support through the Canadian Mental Health Association, Freddy wanted to figure out a way to combine three things that are very important to him:
- His desire to help raise funds and awareness for what CMHA does and their important role in both mental health and mental illness support;
- encourage and motivate others to keep up their fight in finding joy while dealing with mental illness through a series of ‘on the ride’ videos, photos, audio clips, and ride summaries;
- To improve his own mental health along the way while attempting to paint an accurate picture of what he goes through on and off his bicycle.
Freddy’s journey focuses on his plan is to cycle during the summer in the country, north of London, beginning with a 20 km ride in May and by adding distance increments of between 5-10 km, eventually cycle 200 km in one day by the end of September!
Freddy’s hope is not to show people where they could be in their life but to really help encourage them to keep giving their best.
