Just in time for the cold winter months, women won’t need to navigate mid-day closures
London, ON – My Sisters’ Place is increasing its hours – made possible through a gift from a London family (who wish to remain anonymous) who have pledged five years of funding not only to re-open evening hours but also increase overall program hours. The new hours will be 9:30 am – 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday and 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, on weekends and statutory holidays.
“As winter is approaching, the timing couldn’t be better,” says Susan Macphail, Director of Community and Women’s Programs at CMHA Middlesex, the agency which operates My Sisters’ Place. “This gift increases our hours, allowing us to open earlier and remain open throughout the day and well into the evening. This means increasing safety and support for women at a time when most services are closed.”
Evening hours closed in May due to lack of funding and re-opened October 6 in preparation for the increased hours launch starting December 1.
My Sisters’ Place is a place of safety and a community of support for London and area women supporting one another through experiences of trauma, mental health challenges, homelessness, addictions and poverty.
In 2016/2017 there were more than 22,000 visits by women seeking daily access to mental health and addictions support, safety planning, crisis support, showers, laundry and basic needs, a daily nutritious meal, housing stability, onsite primary health care, harm reduction supplies, belonging and sisterhood.
