To date, over $200,000 has been raised in support of My Sisters’ Place, a program of CMHA Middlesex, through the Shoppers LOVE. YOU. Run for Women. In London’s largest Run for Women event yet, over 970 runners and walkers came together at Harris Park in London, Ontario on a beautiful Sunday morning. This was My Sisters’ Place second year receiving the proceeds from this incredible event.
The 2019 event raised over $100,000 and the funds will be used to enhance programming that helps the women of My Sisters’ Place (MSP) achieve safety, stability, skills, confidence and recovery.
My Sisters’ Place (MSP) is a safe, welcoming and inclusive centre that supports women through drop-in and wrap-around services. Many experience multiple vulnerabilities including gender based violence, trauma, chronic mental and physical health challenges, homelessness or housing instability, substance use, and extreme poverty. It is a safe and reliable support system for women facing hardship and can see anywhere from 100 – 150 women daily.
“My Sisters’ Place is truly overwhelmed and grateful for the continued generosity of the London community and Shoppers Drug Mart. The funds raised at this incredible event will go a long way in providing countless women the necessary support services required to address their unique needs and give them a safe and welcoming environment in which to thrive,” said Kristy Bell, Manager of Outreach Services.
Thank you to our fantastic partners at Shoppers Drug Mart, the Running Room, Loblaws, and all of the participants and volunteers for making the event an even bigger success! We are grateful to this incredible community for their ongoing support!
