Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a treatment approach developed to teach participants with a history of self-harm behaviours and certain types of emotional troubles new skills to create a life worth living. DBT is a combination of cognitive behavioural approaches with Eastern meditation practices.
In our DBT program:
- Participants are taught skills in a group setting
- Participants supported by the program benefit from a variety of therapeutic services which increase the quality of life
- Participants engage in activities to enhance their abilities to experience safety and stability
Our DBT program will be virtual until further notice. Should that change, we will post updates here so please check back for changes.
Please note that those waiting to enter DBT programming at CMHA TVAMHS will experience lengthy delays. We are currently in the process of redesigning our program to meet the expanded needs of our newly integrated organization as we prioritize reducing our wait times. While we work through this reconstruction, we will continue to offer a full DBT skills group with 1:1 DBT based counselling as well as a DBT based Life Worth Living group. We will expand our offerings as soon as we are able.
We will be contacting those on our current waitlist to provide information and referral to other available resources and supports. We appreciate your patience while we work through this unprecedented time. The waitlist in London-Middlesex will be closed until further notice. We apologize for the disruption to service. Please continue to check back for updates on our website and on our social media.
