Our Justice and Court Diversion programs support individuals 16 years of age and older who have been charged or convicted of a criminal offence and are coping with a serious mental illness, developmental challenges or brain injury.
Court Diversion is a voluntary and client-centered program that diverts accused individuals from the justice system to systems that more appropriately address their challenges by meeting the needs of the accused. Through this court-based program, participants access resources and supports, and learn skills for living independently with a better quality of life.
Court Support provides information and support to individuals living with serious mental illness and their caregivers if they come into contact with the criminal justice system and are required to be in the London court. Situated within the court house, our court support staff assist people by connecting them to service providers and helping them understand the judicial process. Linking to community resources outside of the Court Diversion Program and advocating within the legal system to arrange diversion applications is within the role of our Court Outreach Liaison. Call 519-660-3169.
Justice Community Support provides support and advocacy for people charged or convicted of a crime and living with serious mental illness, developmental challenges or brain injury to prevent further difficulties with the law. Our Justice-Community Support Coordinators provide support at court appearances or probation appointments, referrals, crisis plan development, and conflict resolution.
To get connected, contact our assessment team between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm, at 519-434-9191. We accept self-referrals as well as referrals from family members, community/justice agencies, physicians and psychiatrists.
