Ride Don’t Hide is a community bike ride hosted by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), with the goal to raise awareness and help break the stigma surrounding mental health while raising essential funds to support mental health programs. CMHA rides will be hosted on Sunday, June 25, 2017 in four provinces in over 30 communities with the aim to engage over 6,000 participants and raise over $1.5 million.
The community event is a ride, not a race, with routes designed for riders of all ages and abilities. Regardless of distance, riders will travel a route supported from start to finish with rest stops, water to fuel the journey, fans to cheer riders on, and a chance to enjoy a fun day for a great cause.
This event originated in CMHA BC Division, and over the past couple of years has grown to be an event that is now hosted in Ontario CMHA’s. For the 2017 event, CMHA Middlesex is hosting a ride in London. At this time, we are seeking interested members of the public to join our Planning Committee.
As a member of the Planning Committee, you will be an ambassador for this event. Some of the ways that you will contribute to the event’s success may also include:
- Helping to shape the goals and objectives for the 2017 event;
- Developing new ideas and strategies to recruit more riders and sponsors;
- Helping to reach our goal of 200 riders!
- Facilitating connections within the community to help spread awareness and support;
- Volunteering on the day-of the event as a lead volunteer.
It is anticipated that the time commitment for participation on the Planning Committee will include approximately 1-2 meetings per month from January to June at the Queens Avenue site. The employees of CMHA Middlesex will keep Planning Committee members updated and informed throughout the working stages of the event planning process by submitting monthly reports. A final wrap-up meeting will then be hosted for the Planning Committee to review details.
You don’t have to own a bike or be a bike enthusiast to volunteer! All welcome.
