Talk Today is a program designed by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) and is one of the most comprehensive mental health/sport-related programs in Canada. Its aim is to promote the mental health of young athletes and to spread awareness about the benefits of positive mental health throughout communities across the country. Originally launched in 2014, interest in Talk Today has grown steadily both within and outside the realm of sports.
A key piece of the Talk Today program has been to educate players about mental health and suicide prevention. Every team has received mental health training specific to suicide prevention. Each team is also now linked to a CMHA Mental Health Coach, who provides support and mental health resources to individuals in need.
We hope you will join CMHA Middlesex and the London Knights at the Budweiser Gardens on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. for the 3rd Talk Today Awareness Game. Visit the CMHA Middlesex kiosk on the main concourse before the game, in between periods or on your way out to receive more information, chat with our staff representatives and sign the petition to “Erase the Difference”. It’s time to Erase the Difference and fund Mental Health and addictions care the same as physical health care.
